Finally Back


I had forgotten how much I liked this one.  I can really tell that I've changed in my coding ability a lot since I first made it for the game jam.  I've implemented a lot of fixes this time, all of which were suggested by my terrific playtesters.

Firstly, I added two different camera focus modes that can be toggled with the Q key.  You can toggle between focusing on the level target (either the portal or the Boss space station) and looking in the direction the ship is facing.

Second, I added a radar in the bottom right corner that will display enemy locations and obstacle locations and size.  At the end of each level when selecting an upgrade, you can now choose to extend the radar's range.

Third, I made the overall game more of a gradual increase in difficulty where it was initially extremely difficult from the jump, I added two levels that are shorter and straight forward as well as having removed some enemies and obstacles from the original levels.

To that last point, I added random resource spawns to the boss fight so there's less danger of running out of fuel or ammo as long as you're staying mobile.  That being said, now that there are 4 upgrades between the start and the boss fight, I find that the boss fight may be too easy now.  I'll play around with more health and making the space station's attacks in the different phases of the fight more difficult and distinctive, but I'm mostly just pleased to have a completed game.

There are other aesthetic and minor fixes too which I'm pleased by, but I especially like my cloud effect that now demarcates the level bounds.

Made the boss harder.  Still kind of easy.  This leaves room add levels and more bosses later I guess.
